Medics took a 17-year-old to the hospital after a family member stabbed him during a dispute in their home near Washington Middle School, authorities said.

Police said the stabbing happened around 6:55 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of W. 15th Street after the teenager and an adult family member had gotten into an altercation.

A fire department crew took the teenager to a local hospital to treat a stab wound to his upper body, and police arrested the family member on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. He was held in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to authorities.

Police did not say what the dispute was about.
