Police say a 23-year-old man was killed in a crash last month in West Long Beach when he made a U-turn and was slammed into by a pickup truck.
The crash happened at about 8:38 p.m. on Aug. 15 on Anaheim Street near Hayes Avenue, according to Long Beach police.
They said a man was driving a 2017 Cadillac sedan westbound on Anaheim Street, then made a U-turn near Hayes Avenue and was hit by a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was heading eastbound on Anaheim Street, police said.
Detectives were notified on Aug. 28 that the victim from the crash had died in a hospital. He was identified as 23-year-old Alejandro Munoz, of Los Angeles.
The Chevy driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Detectives do not believe impaired driving or distracted driving were factors in the crash, police said.
The crash is Long Beach’s 31st fatal crash of the year. At this time last year, the city had recorded 34 fatal crashes. It went on to record 53 fatal crashes in 2025, the city’s highest total in more than a decade.
