An argument grew into violence overnight at a Long Beach residence where three people suffered stab wounds and were hospitalized.

Officers were dispatched at 12:27 a.m. today to a residence in the 300 block of West 14th Street, near Cedar Avenue, said Long Beach police Lt. Steven Costa.

“The initial investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between friends and family members residing at a residence,” Costa said. “During the altercation, a stabbing occurred between a male adult suspect, a male adult victim and a female adult victim. All three adults sustained lacerations to their upper bodies.”

Paramedics took all three people to hospitals where the suspect was in critical condition and the two victims had stable vital signs, he said.

The investigation is continuing, Costa said.
