This past Saturday, 34-year-old Cedrick McClair was shot multiple times while walking away from a parked vehicle near 19th and Lime Avenue. The murder marks the 13th murder in Long Beach in 2014 if one excludes the killing of 36-year-old Jason Conoscenti, who was shot to death by Long Beach police officers after being chased from Compton by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the fatal shooting of Noel Aguilar in North Long Beach by a sheriff deputy.

It is unclear how or in what way the Long Beach resident engaged with the suspects in the parked vehicle; investigators believe the incident to possibly be gang-related despite the motive remaining unknown.

A private citizen found McClair collapsed and immediately took him to a hospital before authorities had arrived at the scene at around 10:30PM. The victim passed away at the hospital, succumbing to his wounds.
