Four people have been charged with murder in connection with a strong-arm robbery that ended with a man being killed from his injuries a month after he was hit by a vehicle, police said Friday.

Police said the victim, identified only as a 53-year-old Long Beach man, was standing in the road in the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue at 2:45 p.m. on May 6 when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the man had been assaulted and robbed by three men and a woman on the sidewalk, which resulted in him entering the roadway just before the collision, police said.

Four people were arrested and charged with robbery on May 9: Michael Rowe, 27, of Downey; Kalaza Easterlin, 23, of Downey; Ira Callahan, 53 of Long Beach; and Darrell Cutrer, 32, of Long Beach.

The four were where charged with murder this week after the victim died from his injures on June 3, police said.
