A 45-year-old man convicted in November of sexually assaulting a four-year-old and nine-year-old girl was sentenced Friday to 24 years and eight months-to-life in state prison, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (LADA) announced.

William Edward Burch was found guilty on November 12 of oral copulation with a child 10 years old or younger, using a minor for sex acts, child molestation and performing a lewd act upon a child.

Prosecutor and Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley said Burch sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl. Burch also molested a nine-year-old girl two years later.

Police were notified soon after the second incident, and Burch was arrested in connection with the crimes.

In addition to the sentencing, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong ordered Burch to register as a sex offender for life.
