An undisclosed amount of money was taken from 4th Street Vine on Saturday, police said.
Jim Ritson, the business owner, said an iPhone and between $500 and $600 was taken, but police have not confirmed those details.
Ritson told police that when he arrived at the location to open up the business, located at 2142 East Fourth Street, he discovered money missing and called the police, said Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.
Ritson said the incident happened in the morning, and the suspect was caught on a video surveillance camera.
“On Saturday morning, January 10th at 8:45 am someone entered our business through the back door which was unlocked while our cleaning crew was on site working,” he said in an email. “The thief spent about four minutes inside our business rifling through our stuff and stealing before slipping back out of the back door undetected. At the time of the robbery, the cleaning crew were working outside in front of the building. The thief got off with an iPhone and $500 to $600 in cash. The robbery was not forced-entry and was non-violent. The entire incident was recorded by our security cameras. Of course it is disheartening to watch someone rifling through your place of business and stealing whatever they find. That said, we are very grateful that there was not a confrontation with the folks who were there working at the time.”
A report was taken and the investigation is ongoing, Pratt said. No further information is available. We will update this story as we learn more.
Anyone with information should call the LBPD’s Burglary Detail at 562-570-7351.
Additionally, 4th Street Vine said on its Facebook page that anyone with information about the suspect’s identity would be “met with a nice beer tab reward.”
