Teenage boy wounded in reported drive-by shooting on 710 Freeway

A 13-year old boy was injured in a shooting that reportedly took place on the 710 Freeway early Tuesday morning.

According to police, officers responded to a report of a shooting victim who had been transported to a local hospital at 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

A witness stated that he and the victim were passengers in a vehicle driving north on the 710 Freeway, when another vehicle pulled up alongside and shot at them. Officers were unable to locate any evidence of a shooting on the freeway.

Police said the boy was shot in the upper body but didn’t provide any more details on the severity of his wounds.

The motive of the shooting is unknown and witnesses provided no suspect information, according to the department. The investigation is ongoing.
