Police say they’ve arrested a 72-year-old Long Beach man who pointed a gun at two women near Cambodia Town Monday night, which prompted a SWAT team to be dispatched.
Alfonzo Crear allegedly pointed the gun at the two women during an argument sometime before 9:45 p.m. in the 1200 block of Olive Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Crear never fired the weapon and went back inside his home, police said. Officers were called to the area for the crime and contacted Crear, who refused to surrender, police said.
The LBPD then activated its SWAT team and evacuated neighbors, police said. Eventually, a negotiator convinced Crear to surrender to law enforcement and he was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said. His bail was set at $30,000, they added.
No injuries were reported, according to police, who said the investigation into the incident is ongoing,
