Police said someone opened fire but didn’t hit anyone outside a Wingstop near Long Beach Airport Sunday night.

The gunfire happened around 9:25 outside the restaurant at Carson Street and Cherry Avenue, Long Beach Police Department spokesman Carlos Sandoval said. The person who’d been shot at didn’t cooperate with police, but detectives suspect the shooting had to do with an earlier altercation, Sandoval said.

Police said they don’t have any suspect information at this point, but they’re still investigating.

That was the second shooting police investigated Sunday evening, according to authorities.

Around 6:35 p.m., someone opened fire in the Wrigley area, near Birney Elementary School, according to authorities.

In that case, officers arrived to find bullet casings and a car hit by gunfire in the 2900 block of Golden Avenue, Sandoval said.

Nobody was hurt, he said. No further details were immediately available.
