Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder in a shooting that left another man wounded near Houghton Park earlier this month.

Officers took Manuel Jamal Hendrix, 26, into custody Monday morning near 61st Street and Linden Avenue, about two blocks from where a man was found wounded on Dec. 4.

The victim was shot in the upper body near Atlantic Avenue and East 60th Street around 9 a.m., police said at the time.

Paramedics took him to the hospital, but his injuries weren’t life-threatening, police said.

Hendrix and the victim are acquaintances, police said, but detectives are still investigating what could have prompted the shooting.

Hendrix is from Long Beach. He lives in the neighborhood where the shooting happened, jail records show. He was being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
