Charges were filed yesterday against five suspects in connection with a shooting last Sunday that left five victims in the hospital, one in serious condition.

According to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), on Sunday at approximately 9:40PM, officers responded to a call on the 200 block of W. 14th Street regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located three adult males and one juvenile male who had been struck by gunfire.  Unbeknownst to police at the time, a fifth adult male victim had also been struck by gunfire, and was later located at a hospital outside of Long Beach.  According to the LBPD, all of the victims sustained non-life threatening injuries and are now in stable condition.

The day after the shooting, at approximately 9:15 P.M., officers from the West Patrol Division observed a vehicle in the area of Orange Avenue and 17th Street that matched the description of the suspect vehicle from the shooting, police said.  The officers also observed the vehicle committing traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop to further investigate.  According to the LBPD, five individuals were inside the vehicle, and the driver was found to have a suspended license and an outstanding traffic warrant for his arrest. Upon further investigation, a firearm and other evidence was recovered from inside the vehicle, police said,  All five individuals were arrested in connection with the previous night’s shooting.   

Wednesday, detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and charges related to attempted murder, firearms and gang enhancements were filed against 27-year-old David Ham of Long Beach, as well as four 16-year-old male juveniles, also from Long Beach.

Ham is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $10,000,000 bail.
