Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the death of a baby girl whose body was found behind a building in Bellflower on Monday.

The infant was discovered at 10:37 a.m. behind a location in the 10300 block of Alondra Boulevard, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said in new release. The infant was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to news reports, the baby was found in a car seat partially covered by a blanket near a dumpster behind a mortuary.

Authorities did not immediately released further details.
