A Long Beach man was arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly discharged a gun in the city’s Bluff Park neighborhood early Thursday morning, authorities said.

Officers were dispatched to Ocean Boulevard and Lindero Avenue at 1:30AM on Thursday, June 2 regarding a shots call and possible assault with a deadly weapon, said Sgt. Brad Johnson of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Arriving police found out a no-hit shooting happened and arrested Peter Cavanna, 50, as a possible suspect, Johnson said.

The man was booked into Long Beach City Jail for attempted murder, assault with a firearm and discharge of a firearm.

Cavanna is being held on $500,000 bail.

The motive of the shooting is still under investigation, authorities said.
