Charges have been filed against two male juveniles responsible for the murder of 19-year-old Enrique Avila of Long Beach, who died on Halloween night this year, the Long Beach Police Department announced today.
Long Beach Police Homicide detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles Country District Attorney’s Office (LADA), and one count of murder, in addition to gang enhancements, were filed against a 17-year-old boy from Long Beach and a 17-year-old boy from Compton, whose names were not released.
One of the suspects was arrested on December 12 and the other turned himself in on December 17 after a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said.
Both suspects are awaiting a preliminary hearing for an unknown date.
According to the LBPD, officers arrived to the scene at about 11:30PM on October 31 in the 200 block of E 68th St. and found a man, later identified as Avila, had been stabbed.
Avila was transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
