Police say they’ve arrested a man who was breaking into cars outside of some Cal State Long Beach dorms this week.

Someone called police saying the man was acting suspicions on Monday, March 11, near the Beachside College off-campus housing at Pacific Coast Highway and Clark Avenue, according to a notification from campus police.

Officers detained the man and discovered he had stolen property with him, according to police.

“Officers determined that the property belonged to residents of Beachside,” authorities said in the notification. “Officers located the victims and were able to identify that they had been victims of auto burglary.”

Police identified the man as Daniel Morales, a 36-year-old from Long Beach. He’s been charged with two counts of vehicle burglary, one count of identity theft and one count of possession of burglary tools, according to court records.

He pleaded not guilty on Wednesday, March 13, and was held in lieu of $80,000 bail, records show.

Police said they were able to return all the stolen items to their rightful owners.
