A dispute between two women Tuesday night led to one woman being stabbed and another barricading herself in an apartment for nearly six hours before she was arrested.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded to the scene on the 300 block of West Pacific Coast Highway at about 10PM regarding a fight and stabbing in progress between two women, said LBPD spokeswoman Megan Zabel.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman who had sustained numerous stab wounds. The woman was then transported to a local hospital and was released hours later in stable condition.

Officers also discovered the suspect, another woman, near the crime scene. She ran from officers and refused to stop when requested, Zabel said. Further investigation led officers to an apartment building on the 1700 block of Magnolia, where they believed the woman to be inside.

Officers surrounded the building and made several attempts to call the woman out. She refused to come out and surrender, and the SWAT Team was called at about 12:30AM. SWAT served a search warrant, and they were able to apprehend the woman at about 3:48AM.

The woman was transported to a local hospital for an injury she may have sustained from the altercation with the victim and was still in the hospital as of 10:00AM Wednesday morning, in stable condition.

A motive for the crime is unclear and the investigation is ongoing, Zabel said. No other information was available. We will update the story as we learn more.
