Police are investigating after a man’s car appeared to have been hit by a bullet while he was driving through North Long Beach.

The man told police he was near 55th Street and Orange Avenue when he heard something hit the roof of his car, Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

It wasn’t until later that evening, around 8:20 p.m., that the man called police, who talked to him and “located evidence consistent with a bullet impact in the victim’s vehicle,” De Prez said.

It’s not clear who fired the gun or why.

Police said it doesn’t appear anyone was hurt.
