Police arrested a man who shot a gun into the air outside a North Long Beach home this morning, according to authorities.

It’s not clear why the man allegedly pulled the trigger, but police suspect he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Police said he fired the gun around 6:55 a.m. today on Long Beach Boulevard near 55th Street.

Officers arrived and arrested the Long Beach man, 23-year-old Ernesto Perez, LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

Dandoy said police took Perez into custody on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of an unmarked firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public and possession of a controlled substance while armed.

He was booked into jail on $90,000 bail she said.

It doesn’t appear anyone was hurt by the gunfire. Police said no injuries were reported.
