Police say they arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of fatally shooting a 27-year-old man last week over a family dispute in North Long Beach.
The shooting happened at about 11:15 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Bort Street, just south of the 91 Freeway, according to Long Beach police.
Officers responding to the scene found the 27-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body, police said.
Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he died. Authorities identified him as Rickie Taylor, a Long Beach resident.
On Friday, detectives arrested 39-year-old Sean Richson, of Los Angeles, on suspicion of murder. Richson was booked for murder and was being held in lieu of $2 million.
Police originally said the victim and the shooter “had been involved in a family dispute, which escalated into the shooting,” but they later revised that statement to say the two men appeared to be acquaintances who “were involved in an interaction involving a family matter, which escalated into the shooting.”
They did not provide any further details about the dispute.
