Felony charges were filed this week against five suspects linked to multiple street robberies in Long Beach, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced this morning.

On March 6, three men and two juveniles, armed with a handgun, robbed numerous victims of their personal property in multiple locations, demanding cell phones and personal items. No victims were injured during the incidents.

According to the LBPD, while officers were dispatched to the first robbery on the 100 block of Falcon Avenue, a second robbery was reported on the 400 block of Park Avenue. While officers investigated both robberies, a third similar robbery was reported near Savona Walk and The Toledo, the LBPD stated.

In the location of the third robbery, officers discovered a suspicious vehicle, along with subjects who matched the description of the robbery suspects. The LBPD detained the subjects and recovered a replica handgun, they stated.

While at the scene, the officers arrested 19-year-old Jefferson Sofele, 18-year-old Mathew Sofele, and 19-year-old Linkoln Nansen, and two 17 year-olds, all Long Beach residents, for their involvement in the robberies.

Officials presented their case to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Tuesday, March 8, resulting in four felony counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery being filed against each suspect.

The Juvenile District Attorney’s Office filed a Juvenile Petition against both juveniles, the police stated.

The Sofeles and Nansen are currently being held in Los Angeles County Jail, with bail set at $250,000 for each. The three adult defendants are expected to return to Long Beach Superior Court in Department J on March 15, 2016.

Meanwhile, the juveniles will return to Long Beach Superior Court on March 30, 2016. They are currently being held at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.

While analyzing the evidence, detectives found additional cell phones that were possibly taken from other victims.
