A Long Beach man pleaded guilty Friday to federal charges of child pornography and molestation of a child in Mexico.

Jonathan Sandoval-Lepe, 31, is expected to be sentenced Feb. 25 to 10 years behind bars, followed by lifetime supervision as a sex offender, according to his plea agreement. He also agreed to pay restitution of $10,000 to the girl in Mexico and $5,000 to victims depicted in the child porn he collected.

Sandoval-Lepe came under investigation in September 2017, when an undercover detective obtained child pornography from him over an online program he used to exchange porn with other users, according to the L.A. Regional Human Trafficking Task Force.

During questioning, Sandoval-Lepe implicated himself in the molestation of a child in Mexico. Investigators seized electronic devices from Sandoval-Lepe that contained more than 600 images and videos of child porn, some involving prepubescent children, according to the FBI.

Investigators were also able to find the parents of the victim in Mexico and the girl herself, who was between 12 and 16 years old during the molestation, prosecutors said.

In September, a federal grand jury in Los Angeles returned a five-count indictment against Sandoval-Lepe for production, receipt and possession of child pornography, traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and illicit sexual conduct in a foreign country.
