Long Beach police surrounded a home and began searching for a man who reportedly had a gun this morning before they determined the call was unfounded, according to authorities.

The search started around 8:45 a.m. on Hoffman Avenue near Ninth Street after a man told police another man had brandished a gun during an argument, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Police set up a perimeter around the home where the argument happened, but the supposed gunman had already left, police said.

He came back a short while later and cooperated with officers who were able to determine that he hadn’t actually brandished a gun, De Prez said.

Police didn’t say what the two men were arguing about but said it was a domestic dispute.
