A man was carjacked at gunpoint Friday afternoon in Long Beach’s Washington neighborhood, according to police, who said they are still looking for the suspect.

The man was walking to his car near 17th Street and Daisy Avenue around 5:15 p.m. when another man approached him and pointed a gun at him, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The gunman then ordered the man to give him his car before firing a shot in the air, police said. The gunman then drove off in the victim’s vehicle, they added.

Officers later found the car near Pine Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway, but the suspect was gone, authorities said. No injuries were reported and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
