Yesterday, Hawthorne resident Dominick Blair Roberson, 26, was charged with multiple armed robberies that occurred in the cities of Long Beach, Westminster, Torrance and La Puente, authorities announced. 

According to a release issued today by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD), a male suspect carrying a handgun approached an adult female on the 1900 block of Greenbrier Road in Long Beach on October 9, 2014. It was 3:45AM, and the woman was returning from a casino when the suspect immediately approached her and demanded her property before running away.

The victim was not injured during the robbery, according to the LBPD.

LBPD robbery detectives investigated the incident and determined similar robberies had occurred outside of the city, in the City of Westiminster and the County of Los Angeles.

The LBPD coordinated these discoveries into a cooperative investigation between LBPD robbery detectives, Westminster police, Torrance police and detectives with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, coming to believe the same suspect, Dominick Roberson, was responsible for robberies in numerous jurisdictions.

Roberson was intercepted by the LBPD in Gardena, California on November 9, 2015, where he was subsequently arrested for the October 9 incident. He was charged with one count of robbery on November 12, 2015.

On December 2, 2015, he was charged with an additional five counts of armed robbery for the crimes committed in the surrounded cities, according to the LBPD.

In sum, robberies in the surrounding area included:

  • One armed robbery in Westminster on October 8, 2015.
  • Two armed robberies in Westminster on October 12, 2015.
  • One armed robbery in Torrance on October 21, 2015.
  • One armed robbery in La Puente on November 9, 2015.
