Police are searching for the driver in an alleged hit-and-run crash that sent a woman to the hospital Friday night.

Officers were called to the scene near Pacific Coast Highway and Harbor Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. and found a woman with serious injuries, Officer Alvino Herrera said. Paramedics took her to a local hospital

“The preliminary investigation revealed that while the victim was crossing Pacific Coast Highway outside of a crosswalk, she was struck by the suspect vehicle and the vehicle fled the scene,” Herrera said.

The suspect vehicle is described as a mid-2000’s blue Honda with damage to the front right side. It was last seen driving away from the scene, eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway, police said.

Police shut down a half-mile stretch of eastbound Pacific Coast Highway at the 710 Freeway for about two hours Friday night to investigate the crash.

Police ask that anyone who may have witnessed the incident contact the Long Beach Police Department’s Collision Investigations Detail at 562-570-7355.
