A man killed in a hit-and-run crash in the area of Spring Street and Studebaker Road on Saturday night has been identified as 20-year-old Daniel D. Gomez of Long Beach.

Gomez was declared dead around 12:11AM at a local hospital following the collision, said Fred Corral, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Gomez’s body has yet to be examined.

The investigation is ongoing. We will update the story as more information becomes available.

Hit-and-Run Near El Dorado Park Results in Death of Man

September 13, 2PM | A man died early Saturday after being a victim of a hit-and-run in the area of Spring St. and Studebaker Rd. 

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers arrived at the scene at about 12:11AM to find an unconscious man lying in the street 115 feet past the initial area of impact. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he had succumbed to major injuries and was pronounced dead. 

A preliminary investigation found that the man was walking across Spring St. outside of a crosswalk when he was struck by a silver Honda traveling west on Spring. After crashing into the victim, the vehicle left over 107 feet of locked-wheel skids before fleeing the scene, according to the LBPD. 

The driver of the Honda has not yet been identified and is not in custody, authorities stated. Additionally, it has yet to be determined whether alcohol was a factor in the collision. 

The victim’s identity is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
