A driver took off on foot, leaving an injured woman and two kids in his car after crashing in Long Beach’s Bluff Park neighborhood Sunday night, according to authorities.

Police said the crash happened around 7:45 p.m. on Second Street at Temple Avenue. The driver was headed west on Second when he swerved around a car stopped at a stop sign and collided with another car headed north on Temple, LBPD spokeswoman Shaunna Dandoy said.

After crashing, the driver got out and fled, Dandoy said, leaving a woman, an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl hurt inside his car. All three of his passengers were taken to a local hospital, Dandoy said. Police declined to detail how badly they were hurt but said their injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening.

The driver of the second car was also hurt, but she had only minor injuries and was treated at the scene, according to police.

Officers haven’t yet found the driver who fled. Dandoy said she didn’t immediately have information on the driver’s relationship with his passengers, but they knew each other.

Detectives are still investigating, she said.
