A homeless man was arrested after he wounded a woman in an apparently unprovoked stabbing Saturday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The woman was walking along Long Beach Boulevard between Third and Fourth streets around 8:40 p.m. when the man, who was walking in the opposite direction, stabbed her with a knife as they passed each other, according to LBPD.
The Long Beach Fire Department transported the woman to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening stab wound to her upper body, police said.
The suspected attacker fled the scene, but police soon arrested a suspect, whom they identified as Kenneth Stamps, a 28-year-old man experiencing homelessness.
Police said the motive for the stabbing is under investigation.
Stamps was booked into Long Beach Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the department. His bail was listed at $30,000.
