A husband and wife were found dead inside their home in the Lakewood Village neighborhood of Long Beach Wednesday afternoon, authorities said Thursday.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers arrived to the scene on the 4400 block of Rutgers Avenue at about 3:00PM regarding two dead people found inside a residence, the LBPD said in a statement.

Arriving officers found a man and a woman who appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds.

Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.

The victims have been identified as Salvador Trujillo and his wife Sayuri Jean Griffin of Long Beach. They were both 57 years old.

A preliminary investigation found that there were no obvious signs of forced entry into the home, and a gun was recovered from the scene.

“This does not appear to be a random act of violence,” police said in a statement.

No further information is currently available, and the investigation is ongoing.
