Deputy District Attorney Presciliano Duran said in court that on October 6, Sandoval allegedly engaged in a fight with his child’s mother that led to him assaulting her and forcing her into his car before driving off.

At some point, the victim was able to get out of the car and Sandoval led police on a high-speed pursuit from Paramount to Compton. After a 20-minute chase, Sandoval exited his car and attempted to flee from police before being arrested.

Sandoval is scheduled to return to court for a preliminary hearing on October 23 in Department O of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Branch. If convicted as charged, Sandoval faced a maximum sentence of 23 years in state prison.

According to the case file, Sandoval was also previously convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in 2007, receiving stolen property in 2008 and unlawful driving or taking of a vehicle in 2011.
