A Saturday night saturation patrol carried out by the Long Beach Police Department resulted in the arrest of two drunk drivers, the LBPD said in a statement today.

During the operation, which involved searching for intoxicated and unsafe drivers and lasted from 7:00PM to 3:00AM, the LBPD also conducted 55 enforcement stops, conducted nine standardized field sobriety tests and issued 12 traffic citations for unsafe driving.

Funding for the saturation patrol program was provided to the LBPD from a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
