A DUI checkpoint held Friday night resulted in seven citations for people driving with a suspended or revoked license but zero arrests for driving under the influence, police said.
The checkpoint was at Cherry Avenue and 45th Street, which is bounded by All Souls Cemetery and Cherry Park. The checkpoint was held from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. and saw more than 750 vehicles pass through, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police screened 253 vehicles and issued seven citations to drivers who were either driving with a suspended license or did not have a valid license, police said.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Lt. Jose Flores previously said in a prepared statement. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
