A 19-year-old Long Beach masseur was charged with raping a 72-year-old woman inside of her apartment at a Huntington Beach seniors complex, the Huntington Beach District Attorney’s Office announced today.

Ahkail Demyers was charged with one felony count each of forcible rape, assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense during a first-degree burglary, sexual penetration by force and elder abuse, according to a release from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Demyers, a masseur, was visiting a relative at a Huntington Beach apartment complex for seniors near Main Street and Yorktown Avenue at 7:50PM on August 9 when he saw the victim, approached her and offered to give her a therapeutic massage.

Deputy District Attorney Bobby Taghavi said he then entered the apartment with the victim, forced her to her bedroom and sexually assaulted her. The victim and her neighbor then called the police shortly after the attack, Taghavi said. The victim’s name was withheld.

Demyers is being held on $1 million bail. If convicted, he faces up to 61 years to life in prison, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
