A man was fatally shot in the Willmore neighborhood of Long Beach early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Long Beach police responded to the 1200 block of Chestnut Avenue at 12:49AM on Tuesday, September 16, where they discovered 24-year-old Long Beach resident Rodrigo Perez Salazar struck by gunfire on the street, a press release stated.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene, according to officials.

The motive for the shooting is unclear and the investigation remains ongoing.
