UPDATE  |  A Long Beach man pleaded not guilty today on charges of molesting two boys last year while working as a youth group volunteer for churches in Los Alamitos and Cypress, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. 

Isai Beltran, 25, pleaded not guilty to two felony counts of performing lewd acts on a child younger than 14 and one misdemeanor count each of sexual battery and child annoyance. He is currently not in police custody, out on $100,000 bail, according to Orange County Deputy District Attorney Bobby Taghavi. 

He will next appear in court for a pretrial hearing on October 30 at Orange County Superior Court in Westminster, Taghavi said. 

Beltran met one victim through his job as a youth group volunteer and allegedly molested him April 1. He met the other victim through a non-church member-related gathering and allegedly molested him November 28, according to a release.

According to a statement, relatives of the victims reported the crimes to the Garden Grove Police Department. The District Attorney’s office declined to name the churches or the victims to protect their identities.

Isai Beltran, 25, met one youth through his job as a youth group volunteer and allegedly molested him April 1. He met the other victim through a non-church member-related gathering and allegedly molested him November 28, according to a release. 

If convicted of the two felony counts he is charged with, performing lewd acts on a child younger than 14 and one misdemeanor count each of sexual battery and child annoyance, he could face up to 10 years in prison.
