A 35-year-old Long Beach man is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon in connection to the robbery of a 65-year-old woman last December who was also assaulted at her home, authorities said.
Lorenzo Lemont Jones was arrested the night of December 18—hours after the victim was robbed at her Bluff Park home near Redondo Avenue and First Street, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).
Officials said police were dispatched to a robbery call at the victim’s residence at about 1:45PM that day.
According to a preliminary investigation, the male subject assaulted the victim after entering her home and took her personal belongings. Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) paramedics subsequently transported her to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
“During the investigation, detectives discovered the victim’s vehicle had also been taken from her residence,” officials stated. “Detectives located the vehicle later that night in the area of Hill Street and Gale Avenue [in the city’s West Side]. The driver was arrested and identified.”
Jones was also found to be on parole for robbery, according to officials.
LBPD detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office on February 19, during which one count of robbery was filed against Jones.
He is currently being held at Men’s Central Jail on $260,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in downtown Long Beach.
