A narcotics investigation conducted by the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) yielded the arrests of 31-year-old Long Beach resident Jose De La Cruz and 31-year-old Bell Gardens resident Miguel Arturo Heredia this morning, when officials discovered materials consistent with the manufacturing of Butane Hash Oil (BHO) at their marijuana dispensary.

According to a release issued by the LBPD, Long Beach Police Drug Investigation Section detectives served a search warrant at the dispensary located on the 100 block of East Pacific Coast Highway at 11:00AM today.

Upon investigating the premises, the detectives discovered materials consistent with BHO manufacturing, which is made by extracting tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) from marijuana plants.

Butane, which is also used during the extraction process and is dangerous because of its high flammability, was also found, according to the LBPD.

Detectives arrested De La Cruz and Heredia for manufacturing a controlled substance, illegal marijuana sales and outstanding warrants. The release said they are being held in Long Beach City Jail.

BHO is sometimes preferred to marijuana because of its high concentration of THC, and can be consumed by smoking, ingestion or vaporization.
