may 20ish shootingsLong Beach Police are investigating two shootings that took place in the city over the last two days, including a drive-by shooting that left a man injured, authorities said.

Tuesday, May 24

Officers were dispatched to a shots heard call at 12:27AM on the 1300 block of Walnut Avenue in the MacArthur Park neighborhood, according to Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

“Officers found evidence of a shooting but did not locate any injured parties,” she said.

Police located an unoccupied parked vehicle that sustained damage.

Wednesday, May 25

Police responded to a reported shooting near 61st Street and Orange Avenue in North Long Beach at 12:47AM, Arrona said.

An injured man was located and Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel transported him to a local hospital with what appeared to be a non-life threatening injury, she said.

According to investigators, the victim was walking on the 1200 block of 61st Street when he was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle, Arrona said.

No information regarding the suspect or suspect vehicle is available, said Arrona. 

Both incidents remain under investigation.
