Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian last month near the Signal Hill border.
At about 2 a.m. on Aug. 15, a white Chrysler struck a man while traveling southbound on Atlantic Avenue near 31st Street, which is just south of the 405 Freeway, according to Long Beach police.
After the collision, the Chrysler driver continued southbound and fled the area, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died two days later, police said. The man’s name and age were withheld pending family notification, but police said he lived in Long Beach.
Detectives were not notified of the death until Friday, police said.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is asked to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Joseph Johnson at 562-570-7355.
