UPDATE  |  A man suspected of stabbing the mother of his children multiple times in Long Beach last October is scheduled to appear in court Thursday after U.S. Marshals extradited him from Texas earlier this month, authorities announced.

La Puente resident Mario Aguilar, Jr., 31, is scheduled to appear at the Long Beach Superior Courthouse on Thursday, June 2 regarding the attempted murder case, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

Aguilar Jr. was extradited from Texas by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, in which the LBPD partipates, on May 14, officials stated.

The suspect was arraigned on May 17 and is currently being held in Los Angeles County Jail.

Authorities said the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman the evening of October 18 at a residence near Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway. Arriving officers found the woman with multiple stab wounds and Long Beach paramedics transported the victim in critical condition to a local hospital.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed attempted murder and child abuse charges against the suspect November 4, 2015 and set his bail at $2.395 million.

MarioAguilar22/4/16 at 12:16PM | Long Beach police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man considered armed and dangerous and suspected of stabbing the mother of his children multiple times last October on the city’s West Side, authorities announced.

La Puente resident Mario Aguilar Jr., 31, allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times at a Long Beach residence near Santa Fe Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway on October 18, 2015, according to officials.

Officers were dispatched to the home at about 6:00PM regarding an assault with a deadly weapon, a Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) release stated.

Paramedics with the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) transported the victim in critical condition to a local hospital. Authorities did not release her name but did say she was a Long Beach resident.

Domestic violence detectives responded to the incident and began an investigation into Aguilar, who was identified as the suspect and father of the victim’s children.

Authorities did not state the current relationship between the suspect and victim. 

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed attempted murder and child abuse charges against Aguilar and issued about a $2.4 million warrant for his arrest, officials stated.

This incident violated conditions of his parole connected to a previous criminal threat conviction, LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona said.

Authorities said he remains outstanding and is considered armed and dangerous. Aguilar is described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 8 inches, 240 pounds and bald with brown eyes.
