Long Beach police on Thursday afternoon surrounded a house near 20th Street and Olive Avenue, where they believed they had a burglary suspect cornered.

Officers outside the home had called in police K9s and a helicopter for help.

Police were ordering the suspect to come out. They also evacuated apartments behind the home.

SWAT officers began arriving around 4:45 p.m. and later pushed back members of the public to a further distance from the crime scene.
