A Long Beach woman was killed in a traffic collision in Anaheim late Sunday when a suspected drunk driver turned in front of her, police said.
Anaheim police said Samantha Farris, 29, was driving a white Volkswagen sedan around 10 p.m. Sunday toward the intersection of Broadway and Magnolia Avenue when she turned left in front of a red crossover SUV driven by a 56-year-old woman from Long Beach.
Authorities with Anaheim Police and Fire responded to the intersection, using heavy equipment to free the Long Beach woman trapped in her car.
Both women were taken to a hospital, where the Long Beach woman was pronounced dead one hour after the collision, according to police. Her name hasn’t been publicly released.
Farris was treated at the hospital and then booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and gross vehicular manslaughter, the Anaheim Police Department said in a news release.
Police said witnesses reported that Farris may have been drinking alcohol at a nearby business before the collision occurred. An investigation found probable cause that Farris had been under the influence at the time of the crash, according to the department.
Farris, of Buena Park, posted bail on Monday, according to police, who will forward her case to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
