A Los Alamitos man died Saturday night after he was shot in an alleyway in Long Beach, police said.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to the scene on the 2700 block of East South Street at about 10:53PM regarding reports of a person who had been shot, police said in a statement.

Upon arrival, officers found a man down on the street with a gunshot wound. Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) paramedics responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Lawrence Lee Casados of Los Alamitos.

A preliminary investigation found that Casados was socializing in the alleyway when a suspect approached him on foot and fired.

No suspect information is available at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
