A Los Angeles man was charged with 14 felony counts today in Los Angeles, allegedly trafficking girls as young as 13 for commercial sex across the county. Some of the alleged incidents occurred in Long Beach, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
A release issued by the LA County District Attorney’s Office alleges 40-year-old Raylondo Roberts sexually trafficked or sexually assaulted eight girls from the ages of 13 to 17 between August 2011 and this July, in addition to assaulting a 23-year-old woman with a firearm in March and physically assaulting two of the girls.
Specifically, Roberts is charged with six counts of human trafficking of a minor for commercial sex act, three counts of committing a lewd act on a child, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count each of pandering and procuring a minor under 16, pimping a minor 16 or older and assault with a firearm.
The Long Beach Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Bureau Human Trafficking unit investigated the case, according to the release.
Roberts’ bail has been set at $4.5 million. He was arrested Monday and faces life in prison if convicted.
