A man and a woman were shot while standing on a sidewalk in Long Beach, authorities said today.

Officers were dispatched to Alamitos Avenue and East Sixth Street at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, where a man suffered a gunshot wound to the upper and lower body and a woman sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Both victims were expected to survive, police said.

The pair were standing on a sidewalk when shots were fired by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot, the department said. Paramedics took the victims to a hospital, where they were in stable condition.
