A man allegedly armed with a box cutter was taken into custody after a brief police standoff at a home in the Wrigley neighborhood.

The incident began at about 11 a.m. when a 911 caller reported that a man was armed with a box cutter and threatening people inside a home on Chestnut Avenue between 20th and 21st streets.

After roughly an hour of trying to get him to surrender, police used foam bullets and police dogs to take him into custody.

Nobody inside the home was injured, said two neighbors who declined to provide their names over fear of retaliation.

The man who was arrested lives at the home where he was taken into custody, one neighbor said.

Long Beach police did not immediately answer questions about the situation.
