Long Beach police say they’ve arrested a 37-year-old man who allegedly shot at a woman walking in the city’s Washington neighborhood.
The shooting happened just before midnight Monday in the area of Anaheim Street and Magnolia Avenue, according to the LBPD.
A woman was walking in the area when a man driving a vehicle approached her, authorities said. It’s unclear whether the man and woman knew each other.
Following a brief argument between the two, the suspect pulled out a gun and fired it multiple times, police said. None of the shots struck the woman, police said, and the man fled the scene.
Officers quickly responded to the scene, found the suspect, and took him into custody, police said.
Authorities identified the suspect as Kerin Murillo Villatoro. He was booked on suspicion of assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, according to police, who said his bail was set at $30,000.
Evidence, including bullet casings and a firearm, were recovered during the officer’s investigation, according to authorities. The investigation is ongoing, police added.
