The Long Beach Police Department is investigating an alleged armed carjacking and shooting that took place in Central Long Beach early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a carjacking at the 1200 block of Locust Avenue at about 3:18 a.m., police said.
There, the officers found the alleged victim, a man who said that he was in a parking lot when he became embroiled in a verbal altercation with several unknown suspects, according to the LBPD.
When the man attempted to enter his vehicle, a male suspect and a female suspect approached him, and then one of the suspects pulled out a gun and fired a shot toward the ground, according to police. The suspects then drove the victim’s vehicle away from the scene prior to the officers’ arrival, police said.
There were no injuries reported, and officers recovered evidence at the scene, including casings, according to the LBPD. An investigation is ongoing.
