UPDATE | A man killed during a shooting in Long Beach’s Zaferia neighborhood this morning has been identified, authorities said.

The victim was Lamar Montez Murry, 49, of Long Beach, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD). 

The shooting happened at about 4:45AM on the 1600 block of Hile Avenue. Authorities do not believe the incident is gang-related.

PREVIOUSLY: Man Dies Following Shooting in Long Beach Tuesday Morning

8/30/16 at 9:46AM | A man died following a shooting in Long Beach early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Police responded to a shooting call and a person lying in the street at the 1600 block of Hile Avenue in the city’s Zaferia neighborhood at 4:45AM on August 30, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesman Brad Johnson.

Arriving officers found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

He was determined dead at the scene by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) personnel.

Authorities do not know if the shooting is gang-related at this time. The victim has not yet been identified.

The investigation is ongoing.
